Department of Global and Civilization Processes - Державна установа «Інститут всесвітньої історії НАН України»

The department was founded in 2014.

The department is largely a successor to the scientific direction established by the corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (since 2008 - the academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Oleg Grygorovych Bilorus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, the first ambassador of the Independent Ukraine to the United States. The department's history is associated with the names of such prominent scholars as Dr. Yuri M. Maciejko and a candidate of political sciences, Ph.D. Anatoly Maksymovych Zlenko.

The Ukrainian School of Globalistics, founded by the Department, is also developing thanks to the annual international conferences on problems of globalization, which are conducted jointly with other domestic and foreign scientific institutions.

Areas of research of the department:

- the problems of globalization and regionalization;

- world cultural and civilization development;

- world-system transformations in the conditions of global development;

- civilization and value shifts and competing versions of the progress of the present;

- socio-political and informational and communication factors of contemporary world development;

- influence of geopolitical processes, interethnic and interconfessional relations on international security.

The subject of scientific research of the department covers the historical development of civilizations, the problems of international global economic, communication and environmental competitiveness, globalization and regional globalistics, the domination of the corporate system in the world as a source of globalization forces.

Zernetska Olga Vasilivna, born in 1949. Head of the Department of Global and Civilizational Processes. Chief Research Fellow. Doctor of Political Science, Professor. Specialty: political scientist-internationalist, specialist in global development, global communication. Sphere of scientific interests: global communication and international relations; political communication and new media; history and theory of global communication.
Khizhnyak Igor Antonovych, born in 1948. Chief Research Fellow. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor of Political Science. Valid member of the American Academy of Social and Political Sciences. Specialty: World History, History of International Relations, Political Problems of International Systems and Global Development. Sphere of scientific interests: problems of world history, culture of the West, political problems of international systems and global development, history of international relations, problems of the formation of Ukrainian statehood, sociology of culture, contemporary history, US politics and culture, country studies.
Bondarets Marina Vadymivna, born in 1956. Senior Research Fellow. PhD in Economics. Specialty: economist-internationalist, specialist in problems of world economy and international economic relations. Sphere of scientific interests: globalization and geoeconomics, research of social and economic processes of sustainable development in the conditions of globalization and systemic crisis.
Vetrinsky Igor Mikhailovych, born in 1985. Research Fellow. Candidate of Political Science. Specialty: political scientist-internationalist, specialist in political problems of international systems and global development. Sphere of scientific interests: political globalization, history of geopolitics, modern geopolitical transformations, geoeconomics, imperiology.
Viter Irina Igorivna, born in 1960. Senior Research Fellow. PhD in Economics. Senior Research Fellow, Associate Professor. Specialty: economist-internationalist, specialist in problems of world economy and international economic relations. Sphere of scientific interests: globalization, globalization, global modernization, European economic integration, international tourism, globalization of education, global transformations of transitive countries, global competitiveness, European prospects of Ukraine.
Perga Tetyana Yuryivna, born in 1968. Senior Research Fellow. Candidate of Historical Sciences, Senior Researcher. Specialty: historian, internationalist. Scientific interests: international environmental relations: global and regional context, sustainable development, global issues of the present, environmental safety, US and EU social and environmental policies, transboundary environmental cooperation, Eastern Partnership, Visegrad Group, national environmental policy, Ukraine's participation in international ecological cooperation.
Droniv (Matyushko) Victoria Viktorivna, born in 1991. Junior Research Fellow. Master of Economics. Specialty: economist-internationalist. Sphere of scientific interests: globalization, geo-economics, international tourism, the process of functioning of the world tourism market in the conditions of the global crisis.
